Nike Metcon 10 Review – Is This the Best Metcon Yet?

It’s been a while since I’ve been genuinely excited about a new Metcon. The Metcon 9 stuck around for two years without an update and it felt like forever (all the other versions updated after 1 year). But that extra time gave athletes plenty of opportunity to weigh in. The verdict? The Metcon 9 was too bulky, too clunky, not great for short runs, and burdened by oversized rope guards.

Nike listened and took the feedback to heart. The result is the Nike Metcon 10: more versatile, more flexible, more streamlined, and a whole lot more comfortable. I’ve been testing it out and here are my notes: 

Key Features

Here’s what stood out right away:

• Way more comfortable than the Metcon 9. The New ReactX foam in the midsole makes this shoe more versatile than its predecessor and more comfortable for jumping, short runs, and high-impact movements.
• Redesigned Hyperlift heel plate still gives you that locked-in, stable feel for squats and heavy lifts.
• The wide toe box that the Metcon 9 introduced remains consistent with the 10. It gives your foot a bit more breathing room, which is great if past Metcons felt a little snug.
• Midfoot support band helps with rope climbs and side-to-side movements.
• Reinforced upper holds up well against wear and tear but still feels light and breathable.
• Sleeker outsole is flexible and grips well on a variety of surfaces.

Construction

The Metcon 10 feels like Nike finally struck the right balance between structure and comfort. There’s solid stability in the heel and midfoot, but the addition of ReactX foam makes it noticeably more cushioned than the Metcon 9. It still delivers that classic Metcon feel just with more versatility and comfort during fast-paced workouts. 

Also, shoutout to the haptic print across the upper. It’s subtle but keeps the shoe durable in high-friction areas like rope climbs or burpees. 

Sizing and Fit

True to size for me. The slightly roomier toe box is a nice touch. Your feet won’t feel trapped. If you liked the snug fit of older Metcons, this one’s just a bit more relaxed without losing support. Also, no break-in period needed. I went straight into training and had zero issues. 

Style and Aesthetics

This might be the best-looking Metcon yet. Nike really toned down the bulkiness of the 9, and the 10 looks way more streamlined. It’s clean, modern, and honestly something I’d wear outside the gym too. Doesn’t scream “gym bro,” which I appreciate. 

My Favorite Feature 

Hands down, the ReactX foam. It gives just enough bounce and cushion during dynamic stuff like box jumps and sled pushes, but still feels rock solid for lifts. It’s the kind of comfort that makes a difference when you’re doing a little bit of everything. 

Final Verdict

This shoe will keep up with your full routine: lifting, conditioning, and even the occasional sprint. It feels like a smarter and more balanced version of the 9. Plus, it actually looks good.
